A very special funeral ceremony

As a professionally trained Funeral Celebrant, I will help to create a truly personal funeral ceremony that is exactly as you wish it to be.

I will meet with you to discuss you ceremony fully, so that it will capture the very essence of the person and tell the story of the life that has been lived.

You will be able to check the content of the ceremony beforehand and you will receive a full text as a keepsake.

The funeral celebrant

Throughout history ritual specialist have provided ‘rites of passage’ – ceremonies that enable individuals, families and communities to manage the major changes that life brings, not least being born, growing up, marriage and death.

For many hundreds of years in the West, priests and ministers of religion have provided these rites, framed within the church’s belief system.

But over the past 60 years, first birth, then marriage, and now in the 21st century death, are less and less likely to be marked by a religious rite.

Many people still have spiritual or religious feelings, thoughts and hopes, but prefer not to have a priest or minister officiating at these times.

A new role – the celebrant – is emerging to fill this gap.

The funeral celebrant works with the family to provide a ceremony that reflects the deceased’s values and beliefs, not the celebrant’s.

Trained celebrants are now inventing with families new practices, however small, that make their funeral more meanigful.

You completely captured and summed him up. I was laughing and crying.

You brought me a sense of calm that made it truly special and memorable.

You made a difficult time so much more easy to bear.
